A KING HAS
BEEN BORN
lowly born and placed in a manger,
who could know the threat and the
danger?
a King has been born,
yet His crown is of thorns.
so, from the beginning,
the world steady spinning.
steady was his pace,
onward, to the “Skull-place.”
from glory he descended,
only to be suspended.
from eternity he emerged,
only to be scourged.
In our sinful world he appeared,
only to die and to be speared.
to our lowland he arrived,
finally, to be crucified.
some call it Golgotha, others Calvary;
but, there he died for you and me!
He abandoned His throne,
and, went to the Garden alone.
as blood was his sweat.
how he heard Hell’s awful threat.
the demons in Hell all let out a howl;
the people He loved, soon had a scowl.
all would depart; not one would stay.
yet, for such men, He gladly would pay.
His friends, the Twelve, they all ran
away.
one, him betrayed, and then got his pay.
then He was beaten; (some call it “tried”)
witnesses stood, and lied and lied.
“enough, we’ve heard; this is all
blasphemy!
out with Him now, straight to the tree!”
Prince of Peace, both Lord and Christ.
yet, we, wicked man, Him we rejected, even
thrice!
God Most High, El Shaddai
“crucify, crucify,” was our cry.
“Father, forgive them, they know not what
they do”
He died for me, and he died for you.
yes, Friday was dark; but, light dawned
Sunday.
Christmas points to Easter; and Easter
the Way.
arisen is the Morning Star;
and as the Wise Men from afar,
let us trust Him, love Him,
receive Him and follow Him!
“O, Come Let Us Adore Him ...”
